Mt. Kilimanjaro Packing list

Backpack/duffel bag

A small to medium sized backpack, with a volume capacity of up to 2000 cu in (30 liters), is appropriate as a day backpack. On this day backpack you will usually carry: your (waterproof)gear for that day/extra clothing/sun lotion/water/snacks/hat/gloves/bug repellant/other items for personal use. You can always ask the Moana Tanzania guides if you are not sure what to bring in your day backpack for that day.

All of your other luggage will be placed into you duffel bag, which will be carried by the porter. The weight limit of the duffel bag is 15 kgs. It is advised to use plastic bags or dry bags to separate and water proof your gear inside the duffel bag. You will be expected to pack your daypack and duffel bag each morning before breakfast. Note that it is acceptable to use a backpack instead of a duffel bag. However, since porters bundle the bag with other items and carry the load on their heads, a duffel bag is preferred.
